Planning Team would like to invite you to participate in the Advanced Regional CAMET
and Sheltering Trainings.
The Advanced Regional CAMET and Sheltering Trainings will be conducted as 2 regional trainings in Central and Western NC.
- Central Training: February 24, 2010-Davidson County Community College, 9:00am-4:00pm
- Western Training: April 21, 2010-Buncombe County Fire Training Center, 9:00am-4:00pm
Hosted by NCDA&CS and NC Emergency Management and funded by USDA APHIS/Animal
Care
Veterinary Continuing Education Credit
The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board has approved this program for 6.0 hours of continuing education credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
We invite you to attend the trainings
knowing that you or your organization plays a critical role in your County or region to assist with sheltering animals in a
disaster. The purpose of these trainings is to qualify and equip personnel within
your counties to be local trainers for your agency and jurisdiction. We look forward to having you join
us at the training site that is most appropriate for you to attend. To register

Target Audience:
SART Partners, Emergency Management professionals, NCDA&CS employees,
Animal Control Officers, SART members, VRC members, NC Cooperative Extension Service
Agents, CART team members (for both equine and small animal) and any other agency
or partner who serves their county or region to assist with sheltering animals in
a disaster. |

NC CAMET & Sheltering Training Agenda (Applies
to both venues)
9:00 am - 12:00 pm – Morning Session
- Discussion of Regional Shelter Activation, EOC interactions (State/ County/Site
communication), Command issues, Co-location sheltering, Transitioning from evacuation
mode to extended stay mode at the shelter, Sheltering operations (check in, large
animal vs. small animal, etc.)
- Train the Trainer Modules
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm – LUNCH (Provided)
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm – Afternoon Sessions
- Train the Trainer Modules (continued)
- Demonstration and participation in CAMET deployment and set up
- Wrap up –answer questions, continued discussion of deployment issues/liability/requesting
a CAMET/staffing, registering with ServNC
