Description: Soils data for the research station was prepared by digitizing soil maps that were created for the research station. The soil maps were scanned and georeferenced to get spatial reference information. Aerial photographs were used as the base data to perform georeferencing. NAIP 2012 aerial photos were used. Once this process was completed the soils classified on the maps were digitized, retaining the soils classification information.
Copyright Text: It is important to note some errors that occurred during georeferencing and digitizing. When original soil maps were georeferenced, there were instances where adjoining maps drawn on different pages, when put together did not match, and georeferenced maps did not line as it should with the aerial photographs, This also made some digitized soils data off by about 50 Feet in some cases.
